Honoring the Intention of Government Programs

Posted: Tue Jan 9 2018

If I were POTUS, I would not engage in practices or projects looking for federal support that, while currently legal due to how rules were written, go against the intention of the program.

An obvious example is the practice of high-end real estate projects being built by people with greater than average resources working with the government to define outlandish census based neighborhoods to meet the requirements of the EB-5 Visa program to obtain low-cost government financing just because there is enough looseness in the program to do this. This also has the effect of using some of the limited funds that could have been used in such a way as to truly benefit others who are among those the program is intended to help.

The point is that we want a POTUS who actually has the good of the country at heart, and it is apparent in his or her actions. We do not want a POTUS who may say that the good of the country is important while personally leveraging loopholes that violate the intention of government programs to help people who could use such help.
